  2. Combine in a salad bowl:
  3.       2 large heads Boston lettuce or Bibb lettuce, washed, dried, and torn into bite-sized pieces
  4.       1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  5.       1 tablespoon snipped fresh chives (optional)
  6. Toss well to coat with:
  7.       1/2 to 3/4 cup Basic Vinaigrette or one of the variations
  8. Serve immediately.
